8 Day Beach & Safari Zanzibar and Serengeti
You will experience culture in Stone Town, wildlife on safari, and swimwear on the southeast coast of Zanzibar. You’ll experience the best of the open road on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure into the Tanzanian wilderness and beach in Zanzibar. The journey in a 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof to Serengeti National Park for the game drive and Zanzibar for beach relaxation. This starts and ends in Zanzibar.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest uninterrupted caldera and one of Africa’s natural wonders. The crater is home to about 30,000 large resident mammals (such as buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs, and rhinos) and many varieties of birds (such as flamingos, eagles, and buzzards. Keep your camera ready and be ready to see many animals within a short time!
The Serengeti National Park has accommodations located in five specific migration focused areas as noted below. The park also has various seasonal mobile accommodations located in distinct areas of the park that tracks the wildebeest migration movement. Day to Day Activities
Day 1: Zanzibar Island- Stone Town
Upon the arrival of your flight into Zanzibar Airport, your taxi driver will be awaiting you in the parking area of the airport and will take you to Shaba Boutique Hotel where you will spend your first night recovering from your trip. Shaba Boutique Hotel is located in a beautiful and characteristic building in the heart of the old centre of Stone Town with lots of restaurants in the area for lunch and dinner.
Day 2: Zanzibar – Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your taxi awaits you to take you on a short drive to Zanzibar Airport from where you fly to Arusha. The flight is an easy one, taking a bit over one hour. Arusha is the safari capital of the country and a bustling ‘tourism-driven’ city. You will be met by your driver guide at Arusha Airport and together, you will begin the transfer to Tarangire National Park to start your private safari game drive. You will enjoy a packed lunch at midday and at the end of the afternoon’s game drive, you will make your way to Africa Safari Lake Manyara. On arrival, you will have time to refresh before finishing the day with dinner under the stars and a good night’s sleep in one of our comfy canvas accommodations.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
Be sure to wake up early today, so there is no delay on your descent into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. As soon as you arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be amazed by the beauty around you. Even more so when you arrive at the edge of the crater and take in the amazing view over one of the Natural Wonders of this World. The crater of this inactive volcano is approximately 3 million years old, 20 sq km in size, and the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world. Due to its natural borders, the wildlife in the crater is amazing. The crater is home to the Big Five and offers a good chance to spot the rare black rhinos. Throw hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, and elephants into the mix, and you have the perfect canvas for a pretty awesome safari experience. At the end of the afternoon, you will go to the next lodge, Africa Safari South Serengeti, for a well-deserved night’s sleep.
Day 4: Northern Serengeti National Park
Today, you will have a long and rewarding drive ahead of you, as you make your way through Serengeti National Park. Depending on the movement of the migration, you might even make your way further north while the plains disappear behind you to give way to forests of acacia trees and dense bush. This northern section of the Serengeti is less frequented than the southern and central parts of the Serengeti, allowing for fewer cars on the road and a more ‘exclusive’ safari experience. At the end of the day, you will leave the park through Klein’s gate and after a few kilometres find another surprise, Maasai culture in its full glory. You will spend the night at Africa Safari Maasai Boma in a modern-style version of a traditional Maasai earth house with an en-suite bathroom and king-size bed.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Serengeti National Park. The area is permanently inhabited by many animals, both herbivores and carnivores, including; buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, elands, cheetahs, hyenas, oribis, topis, impalas, Thomson’s gazelles, giraffes, hippos, and the Nile crocodiles. Along the drive, you will be able to spot giraffes, zebras, and other animals. Prepare to be amazed when you catch your first glimpse of the endless plains of the Serengeti.
Day 6: Zanzibar Island
After a good night’s sleep, today is your last game drive in the Serengeti, which will end in the afternoon at the Seronera Airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar Airport. You’ll enjoy the magnificent views while flying over Serengeti National Park and admire the changing scenery of the Great Rift Valley. Perhaps you will even get a glimpse of the famous Mount Kilimanjaro, as the plane stops briefly in Arusha. You will land at Zanzibar Airport where you will be met by your driver guide and transferred to Reef & Beach Resort, where you will check in to a suite mangrove/pool view on an all-inclusive meal plan. The coming days can be spent at your leisure, enjoying all the wonderful resort facilities—spa, massage, poolside sunbathing, or a dip in the ocean. For the more adventurous traveller, you may wish to indulge in a diving experience or head off on one of the many-day tours available.
Day 7: Zanzibar Island
After breakfast at your resort, you’ll take time to enjoy the Reef & Beach Resort or book an optional excursion. Zanzibar is the most popular beach destination in Tanzania. Besides the sea and the beaches, you can visit Stone Town, the spice plantations, do snorkelling, diving, and canoeing.
Day 8: Transfer to Zanzibar Airport
After breakfast and check-out, a vehicle is awaiting you to take you to Zanzibar Airport for your flight back home.

Main access gate for the Western Corridor area; approximately a 1.5 hours drive from Mwanza and 145 kilometers from Seronera. Gate is open between 06h00 and 18h00 daily but please note that last entry is at 16h00.

Short answer: no. Public restroom facilities are few and far between within national parks. If the call of nature hits while you’re out on safari and you can’t hold it until you get back to camp, you’ll be paying a stop to the bush toilet.
