If you want to visit Tanzania’s most famous parks (Serengeti and Ngorongoro, plus Manyara or Tarangire) and spend a few days in Zanzibar, this is the perfect tour for you. However, it only offers one night in Serengeti, which we think is too short. Still, if your time frame is short and you want to visit this unique park, it is the right choice. After the safari, you can rest and enjoy the fantastic island of Zanzibar.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest uninterrupted caldera and one of Africa’s natural wonders. The crater is home to about 30,000 large resident mammals (such as buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs, and rhinos) and many varieties of birds (such as flamingos, eagles, and buzzards. Keep your camera ready and be ready to see many animals within a short time!
The Serengeti National Park has accommodations located in five specific migration focused areas as noted below. The park also has various seasonal mobile accommodations located in distinct areas of the park that tracks the wildebeest migration movement. Day to Day Activities
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
A representative from Imani Excursions will pick you up from the airport and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha town. Here, you will overnight, relax, and prepare for future adventures. Mount Meru Hotel is an oasis for calm and aesthetic pleasure.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
In the morning, our safari guide will collect you from your lodgings in Arusha. We set out for Tarangire on a good tarmac road across gently rolling Maasai plains with scattered acacia trees. As we zip along, we pass many Maasai people in colorful dresses, walking on the roadside, riding bicycles, herding cattle, and driving donkey carts. After an extensive game drive and experiencing the various sights and sounds of the wilderness, we will drive to your accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti
After breakfast, you will continue towards the fertile highlands where the Iraqw people grow wheat and corn. Along the way, we’ll pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You might see baboons or even leopards and elephants in the dense undergrowth if you’re lucky. Passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you can see the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater before traveling to the Serengeti National Park. You will reach the park by midday. After an extensive game drive, we will drive to the Seronera Valley for dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodation.
Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After our scrumptious breakfast, we will depart from Serengeti and head to Ngorongoro Crater. We may spot the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – before embarking on our journey to the Ngorongoro Crater. After lunch and an entire afternoon inside the crater, we’ll head to our lodgings for delightful dining and our night of rest amid the plains and her multitudinous animal life.
Day 5: Lake Manyara to Zanzibar
After breakfast, we will drive to our final destination on this epic safari, Lake Manyara National Park. This relatively small but diverse park, 120 kilometers west of Arusha, is named for the shallow salt lake that covers a large park area. The park floods and dries with the seasons and is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On our exploration of the park, we will see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, elephants, and, with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes, open grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and baobab-dotted cliffs. After lunch, we will return to Arusha, arriving late afternoon in Zanzibar (Stone Town).
Day 6: Zanzibar
This large village at Zanzibar Island’s northernmost tip was once best known as a dhow-building center. Today, it’s a major tourist destination, partly thanks to the beautiful beach and stunning sunsets. Diving, snorkeling, fishing, and other watersports are the main attractions here. From Nungwi, frequented dive sites are mainly down the east coast or to Mnemba Island and reefs near Tumbatu Island. For swimmers, Nungwi’s local geography and tidal pattern mean that swimming is possible anytime. Other activities available include yoga, cycling, and guided tours of the village.
Day 7: Free Morning and Departure
Today, we will bring our adventure to a close with breakfast at our hotel.
You’ll be transferred to the airport or seaport according to your departure time back home, brimful of enduring images of the African wild and memories of unforgettable experiences.

Main access gate for the Western Corridor area; approximately a 1.5 hours drive from Mwanza and 145 kilometers from Seronera. Gate is open between 06h00 and 18h00 daily but please note that last entry is at 16h00.

YES! Overall, it is entirely possible to have an epic safari on both a high and low budget. If you don’t mind foregoing certain frills and sticking to a larger, easier-to-reach national park, then the low end offers a unique opportunity for adventure that certain seasoned travelers prefer.
The most convenient option is to fly from Arusha to one of the park’s seven airstrips. It is also possible to book an overland safari in a 4×4 safari vehicle from Arusha to Serengeti National Park and visit one or two other parks along the way.
Short answer: no. Public restroom facilities are few and far between within national parks. If the call of nature hits while you’re out on safari and you can’t hold it until you get back to camp, you’ll be paying a stop to the bush toilet.
