Day to Day Activities

Day 1: Flight from Zanzibar to Central Serengeti/Game Drive Central Serengeti

At 6:00 AM (pick-up time depends on your hotel’s location in Zanzibar), our driver will take you to the airport for an 8:00 AM flight from Zanzibar to Serengeti.

Upon your arrival at Seronera Airstrip at 10:40 AM, our driver guide will pick you up and continue with a game drive in Central Serengeti. You will stop for lunch at a picnic site inside the park. Then, you’ll proceed with the game drive until the evening. Afterward, you will head to your camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Serengeti is located in northern Tanzania and is a World Heritage Site occupying an area of around 15,000 square kilometers. It has over 2 million herbivores, 4000 lions, 1000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and some 500 bird species. This area is with massive herds of migratory wildebeest and zebra during the dry season. However, the North Serengeti also supports an abundance of resident wildlife including lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, crocodiles and the rare oribi antelopes.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater to Zanzibar

You’ll depart from your accommodation after breakfast at 6:00 AM for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive takes about three hours to reach the Ngorongoro gate. You’ll embark on a full-day crater tour game drive with a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll drive to Arusha Airport for your flight, departing at 4:30 PM to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at 5:30 PM, you will meet our driver, who will transfer you to your hotel.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the world Heritage Sites under natural and cultural criteria. Once you descend into the crater, you will have a great chance to spot the Big Five animals including a pride of lions, herds of buffalos, elephants, leopards, and black rhinos, bird species like flamingos in the crater lakes, and amazing natural environment inside the crater. Be ready to see many varieties of wild animals here within a minute.

YES! Overall, it is entirely possible to have an epic safari on both a high and low budget. If you don’t mind foregoing certain frills and sticking to a larger, easier-to-reach national park, then the low end offers a unique opportunity for adventure that certain seasoned travelers prefer.

The most convenient option is to fly from Arusha to one of the park’s seven airstrips. It is also possible to book an overland safari in a 4×4 safari vehicle from Arusha to Serengeti National Park and visit one or two other parks along the way.

Short answer: no. Public restroom facilities are few and far between within national parks. If the call of nature hits while you’re out on safari and you can’t hold it until you get back to camp, you’ll be paying a stop to the bush toilet.

The North of the Serengeti is hugely popular due to the high-quality campsites and also because it is by far the best place to see the herds of the Great Migration. The North is also the chosen region for safari aficionados because it’s one of the finest regions for a walking safari as well as driving.
